Founders

Right after Patrick died in November, 1999, DAISY's founders had dinner at the Outback Steakhouse in Amarillo, TX, where Pat and his wife Tena lived.  Over dinner, we talked about what to do to help keep Pat's very special spirit alive and begin to fill the hole his death left in our hearts.  Tena created the DAISY acronym (diseases attacking the immune system), and the decision was quickly made to express the family's profound appreciation to nurses for the compassionate and skillful care they give their patients every day.
