Allen Chen

Nominated by an appreciative patient:

I have never, in the entire 20 years of being a Kaiser Permanente member, been attended to as quickly and efficiently as I was today by Nurse Chen. After getting prepared as we thought we were going to be discharged, we hit road blocks. We tried to stagger last doses of meds prior to pic line being removed yet 5 hours later a pharmacy mix up set us behind. I was nervous and agitated and Nurse Chen could tell something was wrong as my fiance talked to him because I was in tears, he called the Doctor on call to ask if he could give me my final medication so I could withstand the 3 1/2 hour drive home.

Even though Allen was extremely busy with his own patients and wasn't even my nurse, he just took it upon himself to assist me and calm me down by giving me immediate resolutions. Within 15 minutes he had the pharmacy adjust my meds to what they were supposed to be and gave me my meds for the trip home.

Allen is a true asset to Kaiser Permanente.
