Bambi Roth

An 11-month-old pediatric patient was admitted with nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. The parents of this child were hesitant to allow the staff to perform procedures on the child (this was their first). Bambi was extremely patient with the parents, guiding them through the process of procedures such as labs and IV starts in order to allow the necessary treatments to provide quality patient care to their child. When the parents became upset and agitated, Bambi stayed at the bedside and took the time to explain orders and reasons for treatments. After Bambi took the time to explain, the parents allowed labs to be drawn and an IV to be started. This shows compassionate care, patient safety, excellent clinical skills, and extraordinary kindness under pressure with two agitated parents and a crying child. Kudos, Bambi!
