Bill Inman

Bill had several nominations, this one from a co-worker: Bill is well-known for his terrific sense of humor and ability to calm even the most nervous of patients. Bill truly exemplifies the act of putting others at ease…which is at the very heart of nursing and caring. As a patient advocate, Bill goes above and beyond, as he is truly committed to doing whatever he can to ensure his patients’ safe outcomes. Just a few weeks ago, he personally went to one of the critical care units to teach and review the use of betablockers preoperatively with the staff. In fact, he has shared his knowledge of the SCIP guidelines and betablockers with several nursing units, knowing that these guidelines are in the best interest of the patient. Bill is also an excellent team player in Pre-Op, and his staff comment that he makes their jobs more enjoyable with his joking and upbeat personality. These qualities, topped with exceptional nursing leadership and skill, make Bill a very deserving recipient of the DAISY Award. And this letter from a patient: Certainly, I don’t think anyone is ever thrilled to have to go under the knife, but I probably get more apprehensive than most when it comes to going under anesthesia. I was nervous and scared when I arrived at the hospital that day, but I was so put at ease due to the wonderful bedside manner of my pre-op nurse. He was a tall, young guy named Bill and he was so incredibly kind, confident, and caring (not to mention hilarious). Having Bill as my nurse made that day bearable for me, and your hospital is blessed and privileged to have him as a nurse there. So, please accept my heartfelt thanks to Bill and the rest of your staff for treating me with excellence and compassion. May the Lord bless each and every one of you.
