Cameron Dang, RN

ICU, Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center

Vancouver, Washington

Recently Cameron had taken care of a 39 year old male patient in the ICU that had been recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. The patient was able to go home for just a short time but needed to return to the hospital as he became very confused in his home environment. The patient's return to the hospital ended up becoming an extended stay, during this time his wife was having a difficult time as she was spending much of her time with him at the hospital. To help with his wife's anxiety, Cameron arranged for her to have a massage and also took the time to make sure that she felt comfortable leaving her husband for a couple of hours by arranging with the Charge Nurse that his bedside nurse be someone he was familiar with.

I spoke with the patient's wife and she was so grateful for all of the kindness and compassion shown to her husband and to herself.  Cameron is always kind and compassionate but this truly goes above and beyond.
