Daphne Harrison

 “Daphne Harrison is the epitome  of a professional nurse.  She has been with our organization for over 10 years and everyone who has worked with her, including staff and physicians, feels nothing but respect and admiration for her.  She is first and foremost a patient advocate who never compromises on what should be done to ensure that we deliver the best quality of care possible.  She treats every patient with dignity and respect and she accomplishes this with a gentle demeanor that quiets even the most cantankerous among us.  Daphne is a “classy lady” who never allows herself to become involved in the politics of the moment and always resolves conflict with humor and panache.

“Daphne also has an incredible work ethic, which has always been so valuable during those numerous 16-20-hour days.  You can always count on her to maintain her stamina and look just as fresh at 2 a.m. as she does at 7 a.m.  Everyone in (her unit)  always marvels at how wonderful she can look when the rest of us show our exhaustion.  So many times, when the rest of us stayed fast asleep, she showed up at 6:45 looking fresh and ready to work a full day with a beaming smile.

“I also cannot recall a time that I ever heard her complain about anything.  She simply goes about the task at hand, yet will not hesitate to contribute her opinion should the situation warrant.  Daphne truly embodies the consummate professional and has been a beacon of “positivity”  for our organization.  As Daphne approaches “real” retirement,  I think it only fitting that we celebrate her many years of contribution to our profession, and I am certain that Patrick Barnes would applaud our choice.”
