Dexter Gabi

“I would like to nominate my fellow co-worker Dexter Gabi for the DAISY Award.  I believe Dexter deserves this award because he embodies (exemplifies) everything that represents this award.  Everyday I work with Dexter he always presents me with a great big smile.  Dexter makes me feel valued to be a part of our team. 

Dexter was taking care of this patient who was dying of cancer.  Dexter’s mother died of the same cancer that patient had so I know it was hard for him.  It’s as if he was taking care of his own mother the way he treated the patient and the patient’s family with the utmost respect, listening, being attentive to their every need.  He would crack jokes with them, smile, laugh with them to lighten their mood to just ease the tension buildup.  He just handled the situation/issues very professionally and in the best matter he knew how.  I believe he comes to work with an upbeat positive attitude.  He just has a really good outlook on life and I believe that’s what we should all do and bring with us to work. 

Dexter is not only a great nurse but also a beautiful soul and spirit.  He is a great friend, confidant, co-worker, nurse employee.  I couldn’t ask to work with such a more uplifting role model.  He is such an important asset to our workload and team.  He just exudes confidence and effectiveness; there is something special about him I want everyone to know and recognized about him.  He is truly a shining star.  He goes over above and beyond.”
