Diane Abshagen

I am writing on behalf of my special Nurse, Diane. Diane has worked in the burn unit about 22 years. I was transported from BCHS to Bronson Methodist Hospital. I had a snow accident in below zero weather. I obtained frostbite to 4-5th degree. I spent 3-4 days in the Trauma unit. On returning home, I went to nurse Diane on a daily basis for 2 weeks. There she told me what may or may not happen according to the frostbite exposure. Daily she dressed each individual finger and also made finger “gloves/wraps” to secure bandages. Diane is a true professional person. Never did I have to sit in the waiting area, as I had a lot of pain. She taught my eldest sister how to take care of my fingers since we live 45 minutes away from the hospital and I could have a break from the trip every other day. Diane was moved with such compassion towards me. If something didn’t look right, she called Dr. Holly. Dr. Holly did 6 amputations and skin graphs, 6 operations altogether. I am recovering very well. Thanks to everyone at Bronson who took such great care of me. Many, many thanks to all of you. I pretty much am able to do most anything.
