Emily Scott-Hursman
Emily deserves consideration for the DAISY Award because she is a knowledgeable and patient nurse. Emily cared for an extremely difficult patient who was, at times, very non-compliant and verbally abusive. Emily was the only RN on night shift that was able to get through to him and keep him from doing damage to his new skin grafts. She took care of him every shift and never complained or lost her cool. The patient healed and made an excellent recovery. If it wasn’t for her patience and understanding, the patient may have required additional surgery and a prolonged hospital stay.
