Being a new mom can be a scary ordeal. After a C-section and recovering in the hospital for a few days, the patient – Ginny Schrantz’s nominator – was a bit uneasy, especially about her baby’s low blood sugar. As one of her nurses, Ginny listened to the patient’s concerns and frustrations, and made a plan. “She treated me like I was the only patient, though I knew her workload was heavy,” the patient said. Ginny also offered instructions for breastfeeding, and was encouraging and helpful throughout her entire shift.

“What an awesome nurse she is …Thanks to Ginny’s kindness, attention and time spent with me, I am successfully exclusively breastfeeding my son at five months old!” the patient said. “Thank you for your excellent care!”
