Janet Hewitt

We have a patient that has been on our floor for almost two years.  She is a very high acuity patient. She needs to be turned q 2hrs, has a wound, lots of skin issues, needs to be fed, trach care, colostomy bag, foley and emotional problems just to name a few things.  Janet always checks on her, even when she is not lead or her nurse. She helps out as much as possible. She makes sure her needs are met.  Janet makes her feel special, like she has all the time in the world just for her.  She is passionate, well organized and a great resource.  She always has a smile, is very positive and treats everyone with respect.

She’s a great problem-solver.  Janet is a new lead on our floor and has shown great care with all the patients on our floor, they know her by name.  Her compassion and communication skills make my job as a nurse much easier.  Janet is also the skin care nurse on our floor and has taught all of her co-workers the importance of turning and taking care of our patients’ skin (also how to chart skin staging). Her friendly and easy personality is contagious and encourages us to work as a team.  No matter how hard the shift, we feel we are not alone.  She is a role model and coach.  The patients love our team work and all of our smiles.  Janet inspires me to be the best that I can be.
