Jean Gima

Jean is an example to follow. Jean is loving and caring not only to her peers but to her patients.  She shows her dedication to her patients by following through, example: Jean went on vacation, but that didn't stop her from calling not only us but the patient to make sure he was doing better and to make sure he had to obtain his medication.  I wish this was the first time it happened:) but this is something she does.  Tuesdays are Jean's days off.  But if there's something that needs to be done, we will see her in the mornings politely, cordial and with her beautiful smile which lightens up our day.  Jean is a problem solver and will go beyond her means to make sure our department is run smoothly.  I couldn't think of anyone more deserving for this award than Jean Gima.  Jean has also served as a mentor to some of the staff members who are becoming RNs.  I sincerely hope you will consider our nomination for Jean.  She highly deserves it and I can't think of a better way to show her how much UCLA appreciates her.  If there was a recipe to creating a nurse the ingredients would be compassion, caring, humanitarian, kind, merciful, tender, heartness, endurance, sympathetic, comprehensive, intelligent, generous, and respectful.  Or we simply say, ‘add a dash of Jean.’
