"...we came in that night because my mother-in-law was having some issues with anxiety and paranoia. Before we came in she was agitated and very upset. Jessie was so kind to her and treated her with respect. Her friendly manner and positive attitude had my mother-in-law calm and comfortable in a matter of minutes. Due to family history my mother-in-law was worried about ruling out some medical causes for the issues she was having and Jessie and the physician did those tests which really helped ease her mind. Jessie was able to quickly and I believe correctly diagnose her. She has been having these issues for some time now and no other medical professional has been able to get her symptoms under control. After our visit she felt much better and has a plan in motion to continue her treatment at home, she is well on her way to feeling back to her old self. As an employee of Union Hospital I know the importance of service excellence and I feel that Jessie is an exemplary employee. She showed commitment to her patient by following through and updating her with test results as quickly as possible and even by following up after the visit to make sure she was still doing okay. I am in school with an end goal of nursing in my future. I saw how Jessie was with my mother-in-law and only hope that when I am finished with my schooling that I will be able to model Jessie's example of compassionate caring. She is truly inspirational to me and this is why I feel she is deserving of the DAISY Award."
