Jo Ann Sind

Joann is a very caring nurse who goes above and beyond for the patients and families every day. She knows her families well and is always problem solving with them for multiple issues, concerns, and situations that arise. She has a wonderful sense of humor and families respond well to this.

In this particular situation, she was caring for a child who was having an infusaport placed surgically for infusions. The child returned to Same Day Surgery in the early evening and Joann realized no arrangements were made in advance for the port to be accessed and used immediately post op. Joann made multiple phone calls and in the end, the port was accessed, medications given via the port and the mother was given the information she needed to be discharged. Joann spent much time and effort to do the right thing for the child and family. With Joann, “the buck always stops” with her. She handles complex situations well – it is an honor to work with such a high caliber nurse!
