Jo Dee Adams-Herst
JoDee first met her patient back in March. He came into the radiology department for a biopsy and paracentesis. JoDee was very attentive to his needs during those procedures and after he was transferred to the Short Stay Unit he had some complications after the interventional procedures. JoDee ran to his side and assisted in his care along with the Short Stay staff. After that day he was a frequent patient in the radiology department. He would come in every other week for paracentesis. JoDee became very close with him and his wife. Subsequently he would come into the ER for complications related to his cancer. Most of the time he would end up being admitted to the med/surg floors. Every time he came in JoDee would rush to the ER to comfort him. Knowing JoDee was there helping care for him made him feel more at ease. JoDee would stay with him making sure he was comfortable, staying long after her shift was over. She became like a part of their family and they were very grateful for the kindness she showed them.
