Julie Hilsman was nominated by a coworker who wrote this: “Julie is an extraordinary nurse. I have worked in ICU Blue with her for two years and she gives so much of herself to Piedmont and everyone of her patients. Her patients’ families always ask to have her back and she is the most compassionate nurse in our unit. Specifically, Mr. R. stands out in my mind. He was a young H1N1 patient that she had for many weeks. He had a Spanish speaking only family and was a difficult case. Julie came back to work week after week and took care of this complex patient. She was there for the patient and family until the very end when the patient died. Aside from her compassion she gives herself to the unit in so many ways she is a charge nurse, works whenever we are in need and does the schedule. She is involved in committees and education. I just think she is an extremely caring nurse and a person who deserves this award.” |
