Recently, Karen received a phone call from a woman stating she wanted to kill herself. Karen remained calm, kept the woman on the phone long enough to get her name and phone number. The police department was sent to help and the lady was found safe. This is one of many reasons why Karen deserves this award. Karen exemplifies the standards the DAISY award represents by being a patient advocate, protecting the dignity and value of patient life and providing skillful care. |
