Kristi Epstein

“Kristi has shown compassion with her care of a homeless patient when she volunteered her own time to help at the Winchester Area Thermal Shelter. She recognized a patient that needed hospital care for his necrotic toes on both feet, Kristi acted as a liaison to expedite his admission into the hospital. She demonstrated extraordinary efforts as a patient advocate in assessing his medical needs and referring him to a surgeon for bilateral toe amputation. Kristi continued to monitor his progress post-op by helping to coordinate outpatient therapy with orthotic inserts. Kristi also worked with C-CAP to provide proper housing and collaborated with Home Health to follow-up with dressing changes. Finally, the patient is now back on the streets, homeless, and Kristi again organized coats, shoes, clothing, etc. for the patient to return to his daily life.”
