Leah Abecassiss

"Recently my daughters lungs began to decompensate. Fortunately Leah was our nurse. She immediately informed the MD's and RT. After attempts to sustain her with hi-fivent the decision was made that she needed ECMO. Leah explained the procedure to us at length and reassured us that she would be okay. I asked Leah to stay with her as I could not be in the room for cannulation. Leah told us she would not leave her side. The MD's had difficulty trying to cannulate her and she required numerous rounds of CPR. Watching from window and seeing Leah was surprisingly decreasing my anxiety. Without Leah's quick reaction to get MD's and RT's I involved immediately I do not think she would have been saved. Leah is a exceptional nurse. Her empathy, compassion and amazing nursing skills gave me piece of mind and saved my daughter. I could never thank Leah enough."
