Lily Ashun

The staff at Segundo Ruiz Belvis D&TC collectively nominated Ms. Lily Ashun, RN for the 2010 Nurse Excellence Award.

Ms. Lily Ashun began her career with HHC in 1994 at Lincoln Hospital where she worked in the Pediatrics Clinic. Since then, she has demonstrated her commitment to her profession by working in most Child Health Clinics. In 1998, she started working at Melrose Child Health Clinic. She is the only RN assigned to the site and has become a “Jack- of- all-trades” ever since. Ms. Ashun takes care of her patients, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, coordinates care, educates and provides information so that patients can make informed choices. She knows her patients by name and greets them with a smile. Further more, she alleviates her patients’ anxiety by allowing them to verbalize their concerns ensuring that their well-being is her concern. Moreover, she accommodates requests and ensures that patients keep and maintain their appointments.

Ms. Ashun is a soft spoken, respectful, professional, and caring individual. She demonstrates dedication and passion for nursing through her caring attitude. She is a true team player who will never inconvenience her patients and colleagues. Likewise, her patients and colleagues echo their respect for her. She is a true asset to the department, facility and the profession, at large.
