Lisa Shumaker

Lisa has always been a superb floor nurse on 5A, then on 4A when we split and moved downstairs.  She ensures that her patients get out of bed, ambulate and have their care needs met. She is an energetic dynamo who does not allow patients (or staff!) to wallow or vegetate – we all need to be up and moving and moving quickly when Lisa is around.    Lisa leapt into the role of Stroke Coordinator in October 2009 when the former CNS took another position.  Lisa continues to be an energizing force with the Stroke Performance Team as well.  She networks with the neurologists, CCU, ED, Med Tele and Radiology along with the Lab, D/C Planners, Dieticians and Therapy.

Lisa spearheads efforts and never shirks her duties.  She has single handedly kept the tremendous forward motion of the Stroke Team and has us all running behind her to catch up.  She is ready and willing to learn (& going back to school!) and help and grow!  She also ensures that we gather around any person (staff member) in need and we help her to support those people through fundraisers, bake sales, uniform sales, spaghetti feeds and others.  She is amazing!
