UMHC has a new Outpatient Pediatric Outpatient Pediatric Hemodialysis Unit inside the Acute Inpatient dialysis unit. Space is very limited and a small room was assigned for Pediatric Hemodialysis. She took the lead to make the space kid friendly going above and beyond by decorating the space in a summer beach theme. She developed activities for the patients to do during each treatment, bought kid friendly movies, and even helped with school work. She and the kids developed a journal for each one to write thoughts and expressions. All the materials were bought with her own money. With all this going on she assured all the patients received a excellent dialysis treatment. She even got the entire team involved including the doctor. Kudos to Lisa Smith for a job well done. This is how it's done at UMHC, nothing but the best for our patients!!!!
