I wanted to thank you and the staff at Backus Children’s Hospital for taking such wonderful care of my son this week. I also wanted you to know that while all of our nurses were very kind, there was one nurse in particular that stood head and shoulders above the rest. Her name is Luiza DeSouza, or “Lou” as we called her. We were thrilled to have her take care of us for 2 of our three days in the hospital. Lou was absolutely amazing with my son and very compassionate and reassuring with me. Lou was also extremely proactive – spotting a problem with my son’s IV and getting it addressed before her shift ended. She said she didn’t want to worry about his IV all night long! We feel very fortunate to have been in her care and wanted to make sure you know what a great job she does caring for her patients. If you have an award for outstanding nurses, Lou is most deserving.
