Marian Sinkey, RN

Transplant Unit, Seattle Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center

Seattle, Washington

Marian is our long term transplant coordinator that works in the Transplant/Nephrology department. Marian follows 60-75 patients at any given time, although she is only here part time her patients never lack in the care that they receive. She follows closely their various chronic conditions and has taken on a transition program that has grown exponentially in the few short years it has been going. Marian has a number of patients in crisis at any given time, she deals with these situations in a clear, competent, and calm manner. She is a great resource to other staff regarding kidney transplant and long term issues; and as the opportunity presented itself she took on the acute post transplant follow up/education/monitoring without hesitation. She is always willing and eager to learn as well as generously lend a helping hand.

She coordinates care in complex situations such as patients in AK and MT who have limited resources as well as working closely with outside providers.

She knows all of her many patients so very well and they trust her as a reliable and competent part of their medical team.

Marian is a perfect example of an extraordinary nurse who is very DAISY-deserving. She exemplifies the ARTful* standards our institution eagerly encourages.

* ”ART” = Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
