Marlene Wixo, RN, Maternal Child Resource Team, MeritCare, is very deserving of this award according to the mother of a patient that nominated her:

“Marlene provided extraordinary care to our son while he was hospitalized with Kawasaki disease. Marlene took the time to greet our 4-year-old and make him comfortable with his new surroundings. When it came time for his IV to be inserted, we went to the ‘Bubble Room’ and used numbing cream. With the expertise of everyone in the room, he didn’t feel a thing. We were very impressed by the whole process. Marlene put my son, husband and myself at ease. It was so nice to know that he was getting the best care possible.”
