Mary Ann Genise

I received a call today from the mother of one of our patients who has a history of osteogenic sarcoma and frequents CHP. The patient happened to be at home, close to the hospital. While the patient was crossing 44th and Butler Street, she had fallen on a hunk of cement. Mary Ann Genise was driving to work and happened to witness the accident. The girl's mother states that Mary Ann immediately parked her car, got out and came to offer her daughter help. The girl told Mary Ann her medical history. Mary Ann stated that given her history and the fall, she should probably come to CHP to be checked out. She called for an ambulance and stayed with the girl until an ambulance arrived. While in the ER, the girl's mother stated how comforting it was to have this ED nurse come in to say hello and check on her. The mother was elated with Mary Ann and could not say enough positive things about her. She was so very grateful for Mary Ann taking time to stop to care for her daughter on her way to work especially because she rarely is apart from her daughter. She asked me to please find a way to give a special recognition to Mary Ann Genise. |
