Mary Sandrik

Mary Sandrik is often accessed for consultation on the staging of patient wounds. She was called to 3N to see a patient who came in with a Stage 4 pressure ulcer. The nurse who called Mary wanted advice on how to best care for the wound. Mary showed the nurse how to clean and dress the wound, instructed her on evaluation criteria and taught her various techniques on what to look for in staging this wound and assessing its healing. Mary did all of this with streamlined efficiency and well developed competency. I was so impressed with Mary’s wealth of knowledge, her patience and depth of teaching, and her grace and kindness in working with both the patient and the nurse. She is a great resource who gives unceasingly and tirelessly, and is one of my personal heroes. She works well with everyone, even the most difficult, and sees this role as a true vocation to serve others, especially those in great need.
