Mary Sullivan

Mary was nominated by the nurses in labor and delivery:

Mary Sullivan is an exceptional Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery department for Mercy Gilbert. Mary is an amazing mother of 9 children and is married to her one true love Marty. Mary and Marty’s ninth child is an adorable little girl who was born with downs syndrome. This little girl is the light of the whole families’ lives.

Mary manages to team run her home, works full time, is working on her Masters, and will work as relief charge if needed for our unit. Nevertheless, what makes Mary so special is her ‘gift’. Mary has requested to be notified day or night and comes in on her own time to council a family when they deliver a downs syndrome baby. By Mary’s research and efforts, she has created  resource folders for these families. By sharing her own life experience, she is able to guide them through this adjustment process and many times these families stay in touch with her.

Mary’s is the epitome of a warm, nurturing motherly caregiver and her comforting, kind ways extend to everyone she works with. We are blessed to have her on our unit.
