Melanie Whittall

Melanie was nominated by a grateful patient:

I have had the pleasure of having Melanie as my night nurse for the past two nights. I have not once felt like I was a bother to her. She has always had time to explain to me what she was going to do and why. When my blood pressure was too low to take any more morphine to help me deal with the pain in my groin and my Crohn’s disease, she made sure I had other ways to relax - by reminding me to breathe and think of pleasant things, or just listening to me being scared.

I realize that to others this might just be a little thing, but when you are scared it means the world to have someone come into your life at just the right moment to hold your hand, heart and mind as gently and lovingly as she did.  I don’t think I could have remained as calm and rested without her.

I have noticed through seeing other staff and nurses here that this must be where all the great nurses and support staff come to work. As they say from the South, you have “the cream of the crop”.

I look forward to getting to the bottom of what is wrong with me with the help of your amazing staff of hard workers.  Thank you for taking care of me.
