Melissa is very deserving of the award according to the co-worker that nominated her.

“Melissa was caring for two trauma patients, three days in a row. Her assignment was very challenging and difficult. Melissa demonstrated compassion and understanding when caring and meeting the needs of the patients and their families. On my rounds, the families expressed what wonderful care they were getting and what a great nurse Melissa was. What struck me the most was the 12 year old female patient who made a real connection with Melissa. Upon discharge, the patient gave Melissa a big hug and I don’t think she wanted to leave. Melissa realized these two families needed consistent care and provided excellent care putting the needs of the patient first.”
