Norman Quilarto

I am a new grad nurse, and I oriented with Norman for 8 weeks. He consistently, every shift, demonstrated and portrayed all of the DAISY criteria. He is knowledgeable about Nursing, especially in Med-Surg and Oncology. Norman has a way of connecting with difficult patients so that they would cooperate and talk to us. He always took the time to speak to them to show how much he cares. Norman is very well respected by doctors, residents, nurses and other caregivers from the hospital. In addition, all patients and families would be glad to have this nurse care for them. When Norman and I had a patient for more than a day, he was a great teacher and always explained how to give them the best quality care. Norman is a strong patient advocate for patients, and he voices their desires. He also welcomed me to all the other staff members, and wanted to make sure I knew everyone. This definitely made a difference with me, especially being new. Working with this nurse made my orientation experience excellent, and I learned so much from him.
