Oscar Solis

Oscar came to Driscoll Children's Hospital answering an ad for a wound care specialist in the summer of 2009. At that time, DCH had a Wound Care Collaborative looking for a leader to assist in the building process for a functioning wound care service. During the last year Oscar has earned is WCC, CWCN(while working here full time); become instrumental in helping other nurses become proficient at wound care; taught the procedure for the negative wound care therapy devices (the Wound V.A.C.); has brought educational in services on wound care products to the wound care team meetings; and best of all created a culture where nursing has become adept at assessing and evaluating patient skin to prevent pressure ulcers.  While there is so much more that Oscar has accomplished I believe that the honor of SRC Rookie of the Year says that others have noted his accomplishments. With Oscar on our staff, Driscoll Children's Hospital has a great future as leaders in pediatric wound care.
