Rebecca Doty

Rebecca Doty, BSN, RN – Nomination: "Becky is a caring, dedicated nurse. She was always a step ahead in regard to my pain management. She listened an understood how I felt and what I needed. If I was upset she calmed me down by taking an extra moment to stop and make sure I was ok. Becky is a kind, considerate and special person who should be commended for her service to Bayhealth Medical Center. She is a committed Nurse with special skills". The following is from a newspaper article: Dover, Delaware – Rebecca Doty, BSN, RN, is the latest winner of the Bayhealth – Kent General Hospital DAISY Awards. Each quarter, Bayhealth recognizes nursing team members who have demonstrated clinical excellence, compassion, and outstanding patient service. DAISY Award winners are also selected for their use of evidence-based practice, mentoring, and demonstration of the core values of nursing. Each DAISY Award winner receives a certificate, a DAISY Award pin and a unique hand-carved Shona stone sculpture entitled "A Healer's Touch.” “Rebecca is a very patient and attentive listener. She is a nurse who makes every patient feel like he or she is her only patient,” said Bayhealth 1A Nurse Manager Dianne Halpern, MSN, RN, CNML. “Rebecca has only been with 1A a short time but has many positive attributes. She has great critical thinking skills, never hesitates to ask questions or lend a helping hand. She comes to work with a smile and her patients love her,” said Bayhealth 1A Clinical Nurse Specialist Jeanne Nichols-Willey, MSN, RN-BC, APN, ACNS-BC. What’s especially remarkable about Doty is the impact she’s made in a relatively short period of time. Doty joined Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in August of 2010, after graduating from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In just a few months, Doty has earned the respect of colleagues and appreciation of her patients. One patient wrote about the compassionate care provided by Doty during the patient’s hospitalization in the 1A Medical-Surgical Unit. “Becky is a caring, dedicated nurse. She was always a step ahead in regards to my pain management. She listened and understood how I felt and what I needed. Becky is a kind, considerate and special person who should be commended for her service to Bayhealth Medical Center,” said the patient. “I’d like to thank my teammates in 1a for their guidance and support. They’ve helped me understand how I can provide the best care possible,” said Doty.
