Valerie Martin Rodgers

Valerie Martin Rodgers, RN, BSN, OCN, Assistant Director of Nursing, Nurse Educator, Oncology Unit is proudly nominated as the recipient of the 2010 Corporate Nurse Excellence Award. Ms. Rodgers is a tireless advocate for nurses and patients. In her role as clinician and leader, she has shown exceptional ability to advocate and provide exceptional care for her patients. For over 8 years of service to the Corporation, she has acquired a knack for the care needs of a unique and challenging patient population. Her knowledge and skills in the administration of chemotherapeutic agents have made her the “go to” person for oncology nursing care at Bellevue Hospital Center. Moreover, Ms. Rodgers facilitated the Flu Vaccine campaign last fall. Her energy, dedication and enthusiasm helped make the flu drive a smashing success. She approaches her job as a nurse with gusto. She helps to mentor other nurses and is a model for all staff. Her colleagues look up to her for advice and also for mentorship. She has been instrumental in helping educate the nurses in cancer care and the various infusion therapies patients need. Her skill set is adaptive that she is able to lead in both inpatient and outpatient chemo/infusion centers. Her clinical and administrative abilities have helped make our chemo center a center of excellence.
