Aiya Albert

Aiya is an amazing bedside nurse and teacher.  With new staff members she acts as a preceptor and as a “buddy”, or resource person, for many other members of the staff.  In that role she is available to answer questions and review patient’s care plans.  She is always willing to assist any of her peers and consistently demonstrates a friendly, positive professionalism.  Aiya never gives less than 100%.

Often patients and families request Aiya as their night nurse.  Recently, her care of a confused patient left the family saying, “Wow, we have never seen such a great nurse!”  They reported how she entered the room, introduced herself and discussed the sleep deprivation that the patient and the family were experiencing and how this was adding to the patient’s confusion. Aiya made a plan and a schedule that she stuck to, allowing the patient and family to have several-hour intervals of uninterrupted sleep.  Two nights with this plan and the patient’s confusion was so much improved there was no longer a need for a constant observer.
