Alana Iwanowski

Alana was my preceptor during my eight week orientation period as not only a new employee but also a new Registered Nurse.   She has shown me that nursing is not only about the knowledge and clinical skills but just as importantly the interaction with the other people on the health care team, including the patient and the patient’s family.

Alana diligently checks all orders and medication administration times.  I believe that I could not have had a more devoted, compassionate, strong-willed patient advocate as a preceptor.  She taught me that my patients value the time I spend understanding them not only as a patient but as a person.

Alana is the one who is constantly making birthday cards, holiday cards, writing words of encouragement on patient message boards and other small but meaningful gestures that her patients truly value these personal touches.
