“I was a patient on the 4th floor when Alisa was making rounds and checking on her patients, she saw me lying awake with insomnia. She returned to my room after checking on all her patients. She said she had some extra time because she had some student nurses with her that evening. She pulled up a chair and sat in the dark chatting with me. Her compassion that night is something I still remember six years later. In fact I shared the story in my article I published called ‘Blessings I Found in Illness.’ Every nurse I encountered was compassionate but Alisa stood out.”
