One might suspect that one of the most nerve-racking scenarios would be resuscitating one of your own patients, praying you save his or her life. When this situation presented itself to Amie Ramirez – twice in the same day with the same patient – she knew just what to do. When Clinical Assistant Dindo Dizon (this month’s GEM winner) alerted Amie to a patient who was having trouble breathing, Amie – along with others from her team – was able to resuscitate the patient. “Amy kept calm and composed and continued to attend to the rest of her patients in the discharge area, keeping everyone safe,” her nominator said.

Her open communication, patient advocacy and determination to keep her patient safe, made for a job well-done. As stated by her nominator, “I appreciate her professionalism and being a team player in leading her team in the right direction. She has shown compassion and respect to everyone.”
