Amy Niemann

Here is a part of the employee nomination letter.  First of all, Amy is a dedicated RN who embodies the qualities of the DAISY Award. She was able to assist a family as she was walking in to report for her shift in dire need one May morning right here on campus in the parking lot outside of the Emergency Room.  If it had not been for Amy’s dedication to this family, the situation could have had a very different ending, but instead, her actions to assist this newborn and his mother while ensuring the infant’s father and 3yr old sibling remained calm was a success.  It was later reported through an interpreter, this family was so very grateful for Amy’s quick thinking that saved their infant’s life. Not only did she go out of her way to assist this family in need who were unable to communicate, but she also remained calm and focused on the immediate needs of this family.
