Angela Haley, RN

Caridovascular ICU

Providence Medical Center

Kansas City, KS

Angela joined Providence Medical Center eleven years ago, beginning as a nursing assistant on the telemetry unit. Several months later she graduated from Johnson County Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing and transferred to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. She spent her first five years as a registered nurse in that unit and then moved to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit where she practices today. Angela “always wanted to be a nurse” but when her father had a heart attack channeled her knowledge and skills into making sure she “could give cardiac patients the best care possible. I think what I have been through with my father gives me more empathy for my patients” and she couldn’t be more right as her nomination, submitted by the family member of two patients, shows:

“I have never seen a nurse go from one room to the next giving such attentive and compassionate care as I saw that weekend. She was awesome not just to the patients but to their family members as well. She shared their grief and was so courteous and compassionate, just as though she were a family member herself, even shedding tears with us. She not only practices our Culture of Loving Care, she lives it!”
