Bev Butler

As an RN, when I think about who inspires me the most, I think about Bev Butler. Not only is she an excellent bedside nurse—which she continues to be even though she has moved on to being a PCS—she is also an excellent teacher. Bev puts in a lot of extra study on the current literature and articles, keeping the rest of us up-to-date on what she has learned and challenging us to improve our critical thinking skills. I think her favorite expression is "there is nothing more important than the patients!"

Recently we were to receive a patient from another floor with a rapid heart rate. They were considering giving this patient a calcium channel blocker before transporting. When Bev found out that the patient's ejection fraction was very low she called the doctor to discuss a better treatment option. A new course was taken which very well saved that patient's life. She has inspired her co-workers to be 'like lifting helicopters that rise above before taking off'. Bev truly is MY DAISY!
