Bianca Birch

From a note to Bianca from her patient’s appreciative granddaughter: “You cared for my grandfather last October. While in the hospital he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The cancer was in the final stages and there were no treatment options for him. During his stay, when you were his nurse the way you cared for him meant so much to our family. You took time out of your busy shift to talk with our family. You listened to the story of how my grandparents met and fell in love, and to this day I still smile when I think of that. You are an exceptional nurse, and words cannot thank you enough. My grandfather passed away about 48 hours after we were able to take him home. During his last week of life, you made him comfortable, made him smile, and made him feel hopeful. My entire family and I will forever be grateful to you”. The Operations Team at OHMC would like to have this nurse considered for the DAISY Award. Although this recognition was several months ago, the poignant story from the family represents true compassion, empathy and the very essence of our CREDO of Patients Come First. We are very fortunate to have her as a part of the Oakwood Team.
