Charlene Pomerantz

Charlene Pomerantz MEd, BSN, RN is the Clinical Abstractor for core measures working in the quality department, but to all the nurses she touches, she is much, much more.
Charlene is a teacher, friend, advocate, positive role model, and a sharer of knowledge. Charlene is always here before the sun rises so that she can be an available resource for all shifts.
When she arrives on the unit, her first question for the staff is “How is it going?” If a nurse has had a rough night, she listens and empathizes with all that has transpired during the shift.
As she begins to look at the patients, she takes the time to review with the nurse, patient needs, so that there is a better understanding of how to consistently meet core measures.
She assures that each nurse follow up with the physician to get a needed order or to obtain the proper documentation.
Many of the nurses at Lake Pointe have spent one on one time with Charlene in order to gain a better understanding of what measures are needed for each diagnosis. Her approach is one of patience, so that the education she provides will result in understanding and improved competence.
You can count on Charlene to come back to see if a nurse has a question or needs more education, reassuring staff that it would all make sense. Whenever there is a “Fall Out” she uses it as an opportunity for improvement, not being judgmental, only helpful.
Charlene, being a nurse herself, understands how fast paced the units can be. She consistently encourages nurses to do their best and to do what is right for the patient. Charlene has brought the 2nd and 3rd floor charge nurses to a totally new level of understanding in regards to what it means to be a nurse advocate and a friend.
