Doris Harrell

The Scottish poet James Montgomery once said, “The rose has but a summer reign; the daisy never dies.” With this in mind, DAISY seems to be an appropriate name for a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the ongoing extraordinary and compassionate care given by nurses every single day of the year. Doris was recently honored after demonstrating extraordinary support during a tragic event. Her nomination came after a young man was admitted to the hospital as a result of a gunshot wound that eventually proved fatal. “Doris provided professional and emotional support to the vast number of family members, her calm demeanor and show of empathy aided the family in keeping reasonably calm during their time of grief.” Third floor manager echoed this sentiment. “Doris prayed and supported the family members and aided in getting them to the bedside in a calmer way despite the grief that they were going through.”
