Dorothy Wellborn

Dorothy was nominated by eight of her peers who work with her. These are some of the comments they had to say about her as a nurse and colleague.

Dorothy continuously puts others needs in front of her own. She takes the time to attentively listen to each patient, gets to know them; she is confident, competent, leads her team well; always positive and cheery, loves her job, goes the extra mile ALL the time; is extremely caring, goes above and beyond to assist the staff nurses when needed. Known as the “mama” on the unit, she is totally awesome and deserving of this award. She has been on staff here for 24 years – that in itself is awesome!

Dorothy exemplifies a caring and nurturing individual. She can be found many times at the patient’s bedside just holding their hand and listening. She is a great charge nurse, diffuses situations quickly, an RN with the most outstanding skills, knowledge, and compassion for pts. Goes out of her way to personally make sure everyone (staff) has eaten, taken a break or is ok; and she is always available.

She is so deserving of this award – she not only is the Charge Nurse on the floor but she is a Team worker and a strong listener who provides safety and comfort and helps to also care for the families.
