Eduardo del Rosario

The Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Portland is proud to announce its’ Spring 2011 DAISY Award recipient, Eduardo del Rosario, MSN, FNP.

Eduardo received his Bachelors of Science in Nursing from California State University and his Masters of Science in Nursing from UCLA. He has been a nurse at the Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Portland since 2000; initially as a Care Coordinator, then as a Nurse Practitioner in 2001. He is fluent in Tagalog, Spanish and English.

As the Nurse Practitioner in the Tone Management Clinic, he took the Portland Shriners' baclofen program under his wing and shepherded it into the program it is now, providing 24/7 call coverage for the 40 or so patients he has enrolled. He is one of very few nurse practitioners in the country to manage such a population.

Those who nominated Eduardo said, “He is a strong patient advocate, always putting the patient first and making sure that things are in place for them; a model of thorough and effective patient education for the families.” It was also noted “He has a way of disarming people and making them laugh that is unmatched by most; his humorous, down-to-earth personality, as well as his "yes" attitude and willingness to help with anything, make him equally well-loved by staff, patients, attending physicians, and consultant physicians alike.”
