Jane Buza

Jane Buza is an extraordinary nurse and I would like to nominate her for the DAISY Award.  She is a role model.  All of her coworkers will tell you, Jane is always happy, smiling and her positive attitude is extremely infectious: but of course, that’s ok it’s the good kind of infectious.  Jane is always willing to lend a helping hand and I can say I have not even once heard her complain about a challenging day at work.  Every shift I have worked with Jane, she goes above and beyond to make a difference in everyone’s day by preparing a refreshing snack for her coworkers. No one asked her to do this, no one even expects her to do this, and Jane does this for her coworkers out of the kindness of her heart because she knows it lightens the load and renews the spirit.

As if that would be enough, when I struggled with a tardiness issue at work, Jane took it upon herself to coach and mentor me in an effort to improve my attendance. She inspires me. With Jane’s motivation and support I have markedly improved my attendance record and I like to think I have become a better team member at NCH.  Her actions even outside the realm of her duties as a nurse, demonstrate that Jane is truly a positive influence and role model or her coworkers.

In addition to her exemplary professionalism, Jane is a compassionate caregiver.  Patients and their families will like tell you, Jane is caring, kind and a highly skilled nurse.  In moments of utter chaos I have witnessed Jane, like the sage that she is, walk into a room exuding her brand of calmness, and bring order to disorder.  And did I mention she is an absolute fanatic about patient comfort?  Even before her patient arrives, Jane must have a pillow, proper padding, and warm soothing blanking waiting for them.  These are just two patient care examples of why Jane is an extraordinary nurse.  After working with her for two years, the list could go on and on.

The bottom line is working with Jane Buza at NCH makes a difference.  She has a way of making work feel less like work.  When Jane is around work is more enjoyable, more pleasurable, more impactful and more meaningful ---regardless whether you are her patient or her colleague it matters very little how bad a day you might be having, or how bad you’re feeling, or even what kind of mood you’re in.  Once you experience that radiant smile, and spend a moment or two with Jane, you always go away feeling better.

I will close by simply saying this: her exceptional service, uncompromising compassion for her patients, and exemplary professionalism Jane Buza, RN is an extraordinary nurse. She has the healing touch, and is without a doubt worthy of the DAISY Award.
