Janice Vernon
We had a fairly young, chronically ill patient in our unit on New Years Eve who seemed depressed that he was here without family and friends to celebrate with. Janice made sure his TV was set to watch the ball drop. She also went above and beyond by staying with him to ring in the New Year. The staff had brought in sparkling grape juice to toast at midnight and because Janice’s patient was NPO, she sponged sparkling grape juice to his lips and mouth so that he could have his New Years’ toast too! I feel this demonstrates Janice’s dedication and compassion to go above and beyond her job to make sure her patients are cared for in every way.
