Jay Sanidad

My mom has been here at the ICU for almost a month. Her condition is scary, difficult, exhausting and challenging for our family. We have met great nurses here that took turn in taking care of her. There were nurses that shined above and beyond what's expected of them. Jay Sanidad was one of the best nurses my family has met! Best not only because he had such intellect and ability to communicate with non-medical people in a very easy to understand way; best not only because he took time and patience to explain and re-explain what plans the HC team have for our mom; but he is the best because he made himself constantly available for all of us and he made us feel as if he is a part of our family.

He comforted us by constantly checking on Mom, conversing with her even when she was not responsive at all and whether he was her primary nurse or not. He visited her and us without ceasing every day that he was working. He even stopped by and visited my mom on his day off! He made sure that we are doing OK by constantly asking if we need anything. He always called my mom Grandma. Regardless of our unfamiliarity with the world of medicine, we felt like we had someone, Jay, in our family that advocated for us. My Mom is turning for the worse but regardless of her outcome, we are extremely grateful for every staff, doctor, nurse, RT, nurse tech, housekeeper and everyone that we forgot to mention of Presbyterian ICU where someone like Jay is with us through our family’s toughest times!
