Registered nurses at Luther Midelfort Oakridge are being honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The first award recipient at Luther Midelfort Oakridge is Jim Hubert, Medical/Surgical Department. “Jim’s name comes up frequently when we are talking to patients in our facility about their care, and patients recognize him for his extraordinary nursing skills and especially for his caring demeanor,” said Rosi Seffens, administrator of nursing at Luther Midelfort Oakridge. A former Luther Midelfort Oakridge patient and a resident of Altoona, also nominated Hubert for the award and attended the award presentation. “If the light was on, he was there,” said Heiman. “Jim always had the time for me. The DAISY Award is presented in a surprise ceremony. When Hubert’s name was announced, Luther Midelfort Oakridge staff clapped to recognize their colleague. “I love what I do, and if I can help someone leave here better than when they came, that is what is rewarding to me,” Hubert said, choking back tears. “I am blessed to be in this career and love my job.”
